The number of published blog posts on Antlers & Eyelashes have been few and far between the past few weeks. As with most bloggers, at some point or another, this blogger has been plagued with the dreaded writer’s block. But refusing to throw in the towel, a little organization took place in order to create a blog content calendar.

Organization is not something that comes naturally to everyone – especially moi! But something had to give in order to get over this blogging slump.
After reviewing the wide range of posts on Antlers & Eyelashes, the solution was clear. The blog’s main categories needed to be straightened out. So after a quick re-vamp, all of the published posts were catalogued in a more orderly fashion.
Since reclassifying all of the posted content, planning future posts has become much more straight-forward.
Blog Content Calendar Weekly Goals
Goal 1: Select 1-3 sub-categories to focus on.
Honing in on only a select few of the vast topics covered in Antlers & Eyelashes, creates less stress on what to actually write about. The attempted method here is to get as clear-cut as possible in what genre to tackle in any given schedule.
By circulating this weekly agenda I can ensure that all topics get covered regularly. This may also help to alleviate some anxiety of over-thinking the work.
Goal 2: Unload all the ideas floating around upstairs.
It’s begin dubbed a “brain dump”! All the crap on one’s mind transferred to paper (or device or app)! No matter how outlandish the thought or concept, just let it all out! Once this task is complete, each notation can be categorized accordingly.
Keep in mind that not every brainstorm will suit every topic. But stock piling all your “brain dumps” will maintain a steady flow of creative juices for future blog content calendars.
Goal 3: Remain Consistent.
Consistency is something that this #canadianbloggergal has always struggled with. But maintaining an even (and realistic) blogging schedule doesn’t need to be daunting.
Stick to a day of the week of even a specific time of day that works best for you. Commit to what you can actually produce and stick to.
Goal 4: Choose a Platform.
What may work for one may not be suitable for another. Some folks, including bloggers, like to store all correspondence electronically (Google Calendar or Trello). While others may be old-school and prefer to actually write things down in a notebook or planner.
There’s no right or wrong here!
Goal 5: Start Writing!
Get to work! Topics have been named, thoughts have been captured, and a plan is in place. Just start creating more great content!
Whether creating a blog content calendar will happen weekly, monthly, or semi-annually – it feels so good to have a solid plan of action!
Hopefully this blogger’s case of writer’s block is on the mend.
