I’m Starting a Blog!?

I’m starting a blog!!  This is really out of character for me to do something like this.  Creating a blog is the last thing that anyone who knows me would expect me to do!  But I have been looking into this process and thinking about this journey (almost to the point of obsession!) for the past six months

… and I finally decided to just go for it!

Taking the plunge into this hyper-critical and overwhelming world that is blogging is not something that I took lightly, nor did I come to this decision overnight.

I was toying with this idea at the start of the year, to chronicle my life and experiences as a wife and mother living in rural Ontario, Canada.  Not that I lead a super glamorous life or have any earth-shattering wisdom to share with the world, I in fact live a pretty boring and mundane life to be truthful.  I just needed an outlet to share my unique opinions, points of view, and all the fun little happenings that is me!

I’m starting a blog!!

There may not be anyone who wishes to read my posts (I hope that is not the case)!!  There may be some asshole trolls out there that totally blast me on the worldwide web for saying what I say (which scares the shit out of me)!

But if I can find one other person who can relate to what I share or who has lived through the same life event as me – than this is 100% worth it!

Once I came to the conclusion to actually make this commitment (which it is a HUGE commitment!), I bought my domain and paid for my web hosting.  I thought I was going to puke!  What did I just do??

Now to get started, I began to search out other bloggers that I liked and could relate to.  I live in Canada, so it was somewhat important for me to find other Canadian bloggers and see what they were doing.

During my research, I discovered Bloggers of Canada, a self explanatory site dedicated to Canadian bloggers!  I searched mommy bloggers, lifestyle bloggers, fitness bloggers, etc. – trying to nail down my niche and to see what the public wanted to see … AND FOLLOW!

To say that I was overwhelmed was an understatement!

Currently, there are so many different blogs out there encompassing an insane amount of subject matter!  How do you know what to write about?  What topic do you zero in on?  So, I decided to NOT HAVE A SPECIFIC NICHE!!  I will just begin writing and see where my posts end up focusing!  I have come across a number of posts on Pinterest explaining that a precise niche is not always necessary.  There have been numerous bloggers out there that just began posting to see what caught people’s interest and what was popular and later honed in on one or two more clear-cut themes.

So, that is my intention.  I have so much that I want to write about that I am just going to start writing and posting and see where the analytics take me!

I bought me a pretty notebook and started making notes as all the shit came to me:  my struggles with weight loss, the trials and tribulations of parenting, all the endless relationship conflicts, food and beauty products I love OR HATE, making friends as an adult – ALL THE FUCKING CRAP THAT KEEPS ME AWAKE A NIGHT!

I’m starting a blog!!

What I also identified was the amount of bloggers who fail or give up, WHICH IS MY WORST FEAR!  I give in really easy and quit before giving something a true effort.  This applies to may aspects in my life:  weight loss, health, home decor, gardening, renovations – the list goes on and on and on.

I really want to give this endevour a real 100% full commitment and solemn obligation to make it work and thrive.  I know that there will be bumps along the way.  Posts will fall behind and ideas will fizzle, but I really want to make this work.  I’m still flabbergasted that I’m starting a blog.

I want something more and something to define who I am.

This will be my legacy.  Fuck that sounds corny as shit …

… But here goes!!

What was your experience launching your blog?  What would you do differently?
