My family is gradually making changes to be more eco-friendly; buying second hand, avoiding single use products, not buying bottled water, upcycling and using a clothesline instead of our dryer. We are also swapping out some of our cleaning products for green or zero-waste products. In comes Neatly by Dew South!

What and Who is Dew South?
Dew South is a Canadian shop (and online store) who is a proud partner and contributor of the “zero waste” movement. By curating waste-free and sustainable products (cleaning, personal care, kitchen) Dew South – based out of Orillia, Ontario – is doing their part to help protect what’s left of our precious land, oceans, and waterways.
Not only does Dew South procure zero-waste merchandise from outside sources, they have also created their own unique line of environmentally friendly items – like Neatly!
Neatly by Dew South
This multi-purpose cleaner is a truly plastic-free product – that actually works! Neatly by Dew South is a concentrated pod which you dissolve in water to create a gentle, yet effective, powerhouse cleaner that you can use throughout your whole house. Formulated with biodegradable ingredients that are pleasant on your skin as well as Mother Earth, Neatly is safe for even the most delicate surfaces.
Why are cleaning products so bad for the environment?
The biggest concern are the chemicals that cleaning products are made of. Of the many chemicals that make up everyday toilet bowl cleaner and disinfectant, some are not deemed safe. These harsh and often toxic compounds are unfortunately making their way into our rivers and lakes – causing irreparable harm.
Why use zero-waste products?
Using green cleaning products in you home are less likely to cause health and environment risks because they do not (or should not) contain hazardous chemical. Zero-waste products, on the other hand, take “green” to the next level by reducing – or eliminating altogether – the added water, harmful manufacturing practices, and non-eco-friendly packaging.

Are all natural cleaning products more expensive?
Generally, organic and environmentally-friendly cleaning and personal care items are more costly than their harmful counterparts. However, the quality of zero-waste and clean products are top notch which causes one to use less so the product lasts longer.

Take the price of Neatly by Dew South as an example. The cost, per the Dew South website, is $14.99 CDN for four concentrated pods. Each of these pods makes 750mL of cleaning solution for a total of 3L per package. If you break that down, you’re paying $3.75 for each 750mL of cleaner which is the same – if not less – than a bottle of your standard all-purpose cleaning product. I call that a win!!
How does Neatly by Dew South perform?
For my usual cleaning routine – bathroom, kitchen, and various surfaces inside and out – I used Neatly with a microfiber cleaning cloth. I had no trouble at all cleaning and disinfecting our home! This zero-waste product cut through grease in the kitchen, wipes grubby hand prints off of surfaces, and took away soap scum in the bathroom with ease. There were no streaks or residue on any surfaces and the air smelled fresh and deodorized.
Ease of Use
The directions read “hot water” and this was definitely needed to dissolve the concentrated pod. It took approximately five minutes for the cute blue gel to render completely into the water. Afterward, it was ready to use!
Price
At a retail price of $14.99 for four pods, I think this product is well worth its sticker price and comparable to most other cleaners on the market.
Final Verdict
In all honesty, I would buy this product in the future – along with a great deal other items that Dew South carries! I have my bottle of Neatly all-purpose cleaner sitting under my sink ready to use when the need arises! My only caveat was the scent of this cleaner. Though my home smelled fresh and cleansed after using Neatly, it did not smell pretty. I would recommend Neatly to my eco-conscious (and not) friends and neighbours. Give it a try yourself!
