Gift buying for kids (especially girls) once they reach the age of ten or so becomes more and more difficult. Damn near impossible – to be honest! Everything they want is so bloody expensive. Yet buying them something they’re not going to use or really need is such a waste of money. As the mother of an eleven year-old daughter, here is a relatively simple list of preteen girl Christmas gift ideas.

Anything from Lululemon
Tween girls are at the age where they generally don’t really wear a whole lot of cutesy outfits with Disney characters or anything on them. They are more into the all black emo look, the denim and knit ‘fit from the window of Old Navy, or simply joggers and a hoodie.
Now, don’t get me wrong, Lululemon is very over-priced. BUT, they’re clothing and accessories are timeless and last a long time. Plus, if you get the right legging size for your little, they can grow with them and they’ll last a lot longer. This mom knows this from experience!
Cool Makeup & Skincare Product & Accessories
The tween/preteen age is about the right age for a kid to begin getting into a regular skincare routine. Heck, they’re already playing **wearing** makeup on a regular basis, right?! Teaching our daughters the correct way to care for their skin and the right (or wrong) products to use is very important.
At the preteen age, kids are definitely being influenced by what they see on social media. As the mother of a young and very impressionable daughter I can attest to this! My daughter wanted nothing but Drunk Elephant skincare products and this mom refused to buy them for her. Setting cost aside for a moment, Drunk Elephant skincare products contain a high amount of chemicals that are not suitable for young skin. So, with the advice of a Sephora employee, we purchased more age appropriate skincare products instead.

Nike Shoes (nothing but Nike will do)
Kind of a no-brainer, right?! All the kids are wearing Jordans and Air Force Ones – mine is no different. A bit of advice when shopping for these cool sneakers though. Your child really does need to try them on because sizing can differ. If you’re so lucky that your child still fits into kids sizes – you’re gonna save a small fortune!
Fun Electronics
Of course, all (or most) kids at this age want all the latest and greatest tech gear – phone, laptop, gaming system, etc. But, realistically, that’s just a pipe dream. But that doesn’t mean they can’t still be gifted some cool electronics! Phone chargers, cameras, mini printers, and headphones are still on kid’s Christmas lists. And the bonus for mom and dad is that they don’t cost an arm and a leg!
Bedroom Decor
Since tween and preteen kids spend so much time in their rooms – why not help to make the space more “them” with some awesome new decor pieces?! The key, really, is to make their safe haven (aka their room) into a more grown up styled space. A simple and timeless paint colour, a more modern bed, plush and cozy bedding, and – most importantly – some cool bedroom decor.
Think twinkle lights and their name (or a short quote) in neon, makeup and stationary organizers, pretty throw pillows and blankets, and maybe a fun colour changing alarm clock. Get some inspiration from Pinterest or take a peek at their latest Amazon shopping cart. Plus, these decor pieces don’t need to break the bank! There are so many affordable options out there if you do your homework.
Uggs, of course
Still as stylish as ever and still on every tween and teen’s must have list. Uggs are all over social media! All the celebrities are wearing them and, really, who can blame them?! These boots (sneaker, slippers, sandals) are super comfortable, warm, and always in fashion. What’s not to love?! Gift your kiddos a pair of these boots or slippers (along with a Stanley cup) and you’ll be back in their good graces. At least for a few days!
Toys, Games, and such that are NOT kid-ish
Our kids’ generation is something that most adults find really difficult to accept and understand. Kids communicate online and with their phones and computers instead of talking face to face. Computer games have long since replaced board games and toys are boring.
But, as parents, we want our kids to get off their devices and play or work their mind a little bit sometimes. Believe it or not, there are still some non-tech related things that tweens and teens may play with. Like Lego, for example. There are some super cool Lego sets on the market that preteen kids can find fun. Board games and card games have come a long way as well.
What’s missing on this list of preteen girl Christmas gift ideas?
Buying for big kids is so hard these days. But, rest assured, they’ll be happy with whatever gifts they do receive. I hope! When in doubt, just opt to gift cash or gift cards.
