All the hype leading up to Christmas can be overwhelming, stressful, and truly exhausting. I am happy to say that Christmas is done for another year.

Let’s be honest here, the holidays can drag on for, what seems like, forever.
Shopping began in August. Stores were loading their shelves with Christmas wares in September. Folks have been adorning their homes with tinsel and holiday cheer since November.

Today is December 28th and I’m happy to say that ALL of our holiday decorations have been taken down and stored away until next year. Tree, outside lights, garland that make a holy mess – all put away!
We have our house back!
This year’s festivities went (fairly) smooth with no major catastrophes! Just a few more useless gadgets we can certainly live without, countless more toys that won’t even be played with in another week’s time, and a couple thousand calories too many!
Spending, eating, and trying to out-do the neighbours is what Christmas has become. It’s sad really that the holidays have become so commercialized in the last decade. The true meaning of Christmas is being overlooked.
Family is what Christmas is all about. Spending time with loved ones (who don’t stress you out) and making magical memories for the little ones is what make the holidays special and meaningful.
So, the house is kinda tidied, leftovers are coming out of our ears, the bank account is hurting slightly, and we need more storage for all the crap we got for Christmas. But we were together, as a family, and our daughter had a glorious day. That’s a win in my books!
Christmas is done for another year! Until next Christmas when we do it all over again! Now back to our regular day-to-day mundane lives!
