Here’s a few of my recent (and occasionally frequent) purchases that I’m so glad I splurged on.

My 5 Frivolous Splurges Worth Every Penny.

A new laptop for ME

When I started my blog I was working on a cheap no-name laptop I’d had for more than ten years. It was slow, unreliable, and didn’t have the space I needed in order to run my blog efficiently. I went shopping for a new laptop with a solid budget ($600 or less) and the determination to stay within it. I failed miserably.

After a Google salesperson showed me the Google Pixelbook – I was in love. But with a $1000 price tag (on sale from $1300), I was hesitant. We left during that visit empty-handed only to return a week later to buy the laptop. I love it! This laptop has a quick reaction time, has a fair few bells and whistles, and holds it’s charge all day! Best grand I’ve ever spent on electronics! Worth every penny!

Designer Jeans

Since earning my own money and having grown-up expenses I haven’t spent over $40 on a pair of jeans and often get second-hand denim just to save a few bucks. Since gaining a fair amount of weight over the last year, I actually needed to get some new clothes. After combing the racks of our area good will shop, not finding a whole lot in my size, I visited a local ladies’ wear clothes shop.

One day while I was shopping alone, perusing the racks, with no intention of actually buying anything. I decided to humour myself and try on a pair of Guess jeans. They fit like a glove! A super soft, hugs-in-all-the-right-areas fit, and a style that will never go out of fasshion. Unfortunately, they were over $100. I could not justify the price tag. But then I decided – fuck it – I’m getting these because they make my ass look good and they’re uber comfortable! A frivolous splurge worth every penny!

Prescription Sunglasses

I’ve required corrective lenses since I was about sixteen years old. With the exception of a couple of years wearing contacts, I’ve endured the effects and discomfort of UV rays for the better part of twenty-five years. I did have the style of glasses with a clip-on sunglasses, but the style was washed-up in no time.

Sadly, I also caved and bought the style of shades that fit over your glasses (the kind old folks wear), but they were extremely uncomfortable and I got made fun of when I wore them. This year I finally made the decision to buy a pair of prescription shades and I’m so glad I did.

To save a few bucks, I chose a pair of generic frames (not the expensive designer variety) along with the polarized lenses. Why didn’t I buy these year sooner? Less headaches, I look cooler, and now my eyes are more protected from the sun. Worth every penny?

Lululemon – Anything Lululemon

Until about a year ago I was completely anti-Lululemon. How can someone spend so much on leggings or a hoodie? Then I bought a hoodie. Now I get it. The material, the fit, and the feel are sooooo comfortable. I didn’t buy much more for a little while – and then the floodgates opened. I purchased my first pair of Lululemon pants.

Holy shit! How could I not have gotten of this band-wagon sooner? They feel like butter on my body – hugging every curve, smoothing all my lumps, and lifting my ass so nicely. I now have quite a collection of body-hugging, confident-exuding, super comfy Lululemon clothes. Worth every penny!

Subscription Boxes

Originally, I decided to get a subscription box in order to control my online shopping a bit. But the rush and anticipation of the subscription box world is addictive. I’ve received (and loved) Fab Fit Fun, Causebox, Simply Beautiful (Canadian), Julep, Top Box, Luxe Box, and Urthbox. Probably spent nearly a thousand dollars on this awesome and thrilling habit and I’ve loved every single one.

There’s something exhilarating about getting a surprise (mostly) box of goodies a few times a year. Cool beauty products, the latest kitchen gadgets, tech and workout accessories, and so much more. Opening a subscription box is like Christmas morning! A Frivolous splurge worth every penny!
