We’ve been together for 18+ years and lived together for about 15 of those.  He has everything (and more).

And just like me, if he wants something – we just go buy it!

I dread holiday shopping for my husband!

He’s covered for his hobbies (fishing & hunting), he doesn’t play any sports right now, we don’t travel, he doesn’t collect anything, he has more power tools than he knows what to do with …

so … I’m stuck for solid ideas!

The past few years we’ve agreed (at least we’ve attempted to agree) to NOT buy each other anything for Christmas.  But that idea always get squashed.  We usually buy each other something from our daughter and we still do stockings (trying to keep the Santa magic alive here).  He usually gets me jewellery for my stocking (which I’m not complaining about BTW!) but I spend a more reasonable amount.  He feels like he’s getting the short end of the stick when it comes to gifts he receives, but he says that he doesn’t want to give in to all the hub-bub of holiday gift giving (such a hypocrite!).

Close to the holidays, while we’re out and about, I’ll pay special attention to what he is admiring in stores.  He’ll usually make a deliberate comment about a certain item, saying “This is really cool!” or “Wow, I didn’t know this was available yet!”, loud enough of course so he can see that I’m paying attention!

I don’t like to dwell on the $$dollar$$ value of the gifts I give, or receive for that matter, but I really like to get him a treat at Christmas.  Something that he normally wouldn’t buy for himself.  I get myself gifts all year – a new purse, fabfitfun subscription box, clothes, shoes, etc!  But it’s a rarity that he will buy something new – just for him.

You have to be selfish every once in a while!

So, I comb through Pinterest, I check out the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and hope for a unique gift idea that will just WOW him!  He really deserves it, especially for putting up with me for so long!
