For my March goal, I have only two words.  Spending.  Freeze.

Originally, I had other plans for this month, but sometimes life throws you a bit of a curve ball!

But first, a brief summary on how February fared out.

Refraining from drinking for one month (even though it was the shortest month) was really not a huge deal did not go as I had intended!

Did I want a drink on the weekend to loosen up a bit?  Sure, and I had one or two!

Did I miss drinking in any way?  No, not at all!  Yep, I actually kinda did!

To be perfectly honest, I had about 3 or 4 drinks a week. I had a few stressful days at work and unwinding with a cocktail was really nice!

So, February was an eye opener for me. I wouldn’t call myself a drinker per se, but in moderation, there’s nothing wrong with having a few!

Proud to say that I’ve kept up with my water intake!

I make it a point to have one full jug (a good size water bottle!) in the morning before I leave the house and then consistently drinking throughout the day, both at work and at home.

Therefore, the first two months of the year were (kinda) successful, I would say!

March!  Here we go!

We recently received an invoice from our township office for updates to our municipal lagoon – which our cozy village has to help foot the bill for!

Our household has to fork out over $3200 by the end of May!

Surprise? Yes.

Unmanageable? No.

But, I truly feel for those households who live paycheck to paycheck who may have to pay huge interest fees because they may not be able to pay the whole amount all at once.

With our combined income, we are fortunate to be able to afford pay the full lump sum, but I’d like to rein in our spending before the cash comes out!

So, my goal is no unnecessary spending!

I’m bad for online shopping! I have a bit of an addiction actually!

I treated myself a bit in February to a bit of Lululemon and purchased any beauty products that I may need for the next couple of months!

Now, we do have a few Birthdays in March! Both my husband and daughter are March babies, so their gifts are already purchased and ready to go!

Spending, of course, cannot come to a total stand still! We will have the usual payments coming out and any credit card charges will be paid in full.

Groceries, gas, pet food (we just adopted a cat!), and the occasional dining out are inevitable!

My goal is to refrain from purchasing clothes (even from Good Will!), more subscription boxes (they’re addictive), stuff for our daughter (and us for that matter!) that she (and we) don’t really need.

Hubby really isn’t in on this spending freeze! This is a personal goal! But I will attempt to dial back his spending as well!

Everyone has a bit of debt – it’s inevitable! And surprise expenses happen at the most inopportune time!

Folks just go with the flow, fork over the payment, and move on to build up their savings again!

If I can put a halt on unnecessary spending for just one month, perhaps a change will develop that I won’t overspend in the future!
