So, I have been using Noom now for just over two months. Before I get into detailing my progress – let me just say that this is the only healthy lifestyle program that I’ve been able to stick to for this long! A small fortune has been spent on shakes, apps, supplements, and memberships, and I’m really kicking myself that I didn’t start this program sooner! I’m honestly really proud of myself! Without further adieu, here is my Noom review – month two.

Thanks to Noom for supplying a free four month trial to help me write this post today! However, this post reflects my own personal opinion about the Noom program.
There will be no before and after images posted.
After more than two months of using Noom, I – and others – can notice a visible difference in me. Not only do I look a little smaller, but I am happier and more confident than I was prior to beginning this program. My energy levels have improved and I’m sleeping a little better. Even though I am getting compliments from family and friends, this journey was not started for anyone – but myself.
When I gain weight – and, likewise, when I lose it – the pounds are distributed all over my body and not just in one specific area. Since dropping weight (I’ve lost double digits now!), it is noticeable in my hands, my face, my mid-section, and my legs. My husband tells me that I’m losing my ass and boobs! It is especially evident in my clothing. Although my clothes are not hanging on me my any means, they do fit much more comfortably now.

There is a lot of controversy in the way social media can negatively encourage weight loss in that larger bodies are considered unhealthy and skinny figures are seen as more attractive. I really don’t want to feed into this hurtful and damaging conversation, so I am choosing to opt out of comparison photos, and focus solely on sharing all the ups and downs of my journey. #againstbodyshaming
“I tried Noom ‘just to see’, and here I am nine months later, with a whole new level of mindfulness, confidence, and optimism about my ability to manage my weight, manage my emotions around food, and live a healthy, happy, active life!”

I’ve fallen off the wagon here and there, and that’s okay.
As mentioned in my previous post, the calorie recommendation (I prefer this term over restriction) is 1200 calories per day. This number seems like a really unrealistic goal to strive for. For my journey to a healthier relationship with food, I an aiming for 1300 – 1500 calories daily. This goal is achievable for me and I honestly don’t feel restricted.
Over the course of the last ten weeks there have definitely been days (weekends especially) that I’ve gone over my recommended intake of calories – by a fair bit! Finishing my daily food log and seeing an extra thousand calories noted is certainly jarring, but I am NOT going to dwell on it or beat myself up about it! Everything in moderation, right?!
Food and drink wise, I try to stick to my weekly eating plan.
- Keep breakfast small, but never skip it entirely.
- Eat lots of fruit and veggies throughout the day to satisfy the munchies.
- During the work week, keep lunches light, opting for a salad or smaller leftover portions.
- Limit alcohol consumption on week nights. Or at least stick to hard seltzers and only have one or two.
- Carbs and heavier meals are reserved for dinner, but keep portions reasonable.
- If dessert is desired – plan for it. Maybe say no to garlic bread with supper and have a small piece of cake in the evening instead.
- When it comes right down to it – if a Big Mac is what you want for lunch – eat the fucking Big Mac!
- Don’t cheat. Log everything.
Noom Review – Month Two – So far, so good!
Overall, I’m very happy with the success I’ve had with Noom so far. I’m learning a lot about how to eat properly and listen to my body. My digestion has improved a lot and my belly bloat is nearly non-existent. A few friends have asked about Noom and have mixed feelings about the program. Let me be honest and say that Noom is not for everyone and the program does not do the work for you. You have to put in the work yourself in order to succeed and sustain your new lifestyle.
Next I’d like to begin adding in some simple workouts a few days a week – because I still have started with the physical part of my journey! I am doing pretty good at getting my step goal in each day, but I feel the need to increase my effort a bit. Not so much so that I can’t sustain the schedule, but enough to challenge and motivate me.
