Scotsman Point Resort

This was our second year at this picturesque resort on Upper Buckhorn Lake in the Kawarthas and I cannot say enough good things about it!

My husband and I are not newcomers to this beautiful region of Ontario. We visited another lake close-by, annually, for eight years prior to returning to the area in 2018 with our daughter. On our maiden visit to Scotsman Point Resort, we met some terrific families, and we all returned for the same week this year.

I’m so glad that I took a chance on this resort after stumbling upon it through work (a few employees have been here). We enjoyed this year’s trip so much, we’ve already re-booked for a third year!

Hoop it up with statement-making styles

Scotsman Point Resort’s main building houses the reception office and a small store – where you can buy worms, a few groceries, candy, and souvenirs. There is also a tea room, where the resort hosts pancake breakfasts and afternoon tea, and a larger games room with a TV, board games, and movies to watch on a rainy day.

The main dock, just off the reception building, is where the kids gather to fish together for pan fish and the odd bass. The resort offers coffee tours on the water via their pontoon boat and tubing for the kids.

At this resort, there are more than twenty cabins to choose from to meet your family’s vacation needs – from one to four bedrooms. This resort has been host to weddings, family reunions, as well as FLW Canada fishing tournaments and events for Wounded Warriors featuring Muskies Canada.

During the summer months, the resort offers a day camp for the youngsters, complete with counselors, so mom and dad can get a bit of a break. The weekly agenda includes: crafts, tubing, fishing derbies, slime-making, and much more.

Even though this awesome perk of the resort is only offered through their peak (summer) season, during our visit at the end of August (ending on Labour Day weekend), the resort extended the activities – which was greatly appreciated!

Nearly every day there were loons in the bay and osprey soaring above the resort. The weather was great. We really lucked out, having only a bit of rain, but not enough to ruin the day.

So, if you’re looking for an awesome family getaway, I’d highly recommend this Scotsman Point Resort – you won’t be disappointed.
