NOT a New Year’s Resolution

Making a change, setting a goal, creating a new habit – these are all methods of personal growth – NOT a New Year’s resolution!

A firm decision to do or not to do something.

The tradition of New Year’s resolutions is such a crock of shit! Starting off a new year by setting oneself up for failure. Making unrealistic expectations that are impossible to live up to. No thank you!

Instead of dreaming up some scheme to better myself and feeling utterly defeated when it doesn’t stick, my plan is to make some minor adjustments to my day-to-day lifestyle. But let me be clear – this is NOT a New Year’s resolution!

Actually wear my Fitbit!

Folks invest so much in activity trackers – but how many actually wear them and use them to their full potential?! I bought myself a new Fitbit Versa 2 for my birthday last year and TBH I really don’t wear it often. Being both fashionable and functional – why wouldn’t I wear it?!

Drink More H2O!

An average woman should consume more than two liters of water per day (coming from food and beverages). I don’t know about you, but I do not drink nearly this much water in a given day! However, I can do my best to increase my water intake.

Self Care is Critical!

We all know that carving out a little time for ourselves is important for our mental health, our physical well-being, and crucial for the safety of anyone else living under our roof! It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day routine, but everyone can set aside half an hour (or just fifteen minutes) each day to devote to one very important person – yourself!

Focus on your critical self care.

Have a Little Restraint!

Hello, my name is Jenny and I am a shopaholic! I spend way too much time (and money) shopping online! Buying things I really don’t need – but want – and seeing our bank account getting smaller and smaller. This is one task I really need to take seriously because we have some renovations planned for this year!

Cut Back on the Sauce!

It’s not that I drink a lot, per se, but I do have a drink or two (or three) at least four days a week! Having a cocktail or a glass of wine helps me de-stress and unwind after work! However I am not naive enough to know that drinking often is not healthy. Cutting back on my consumption will be better for my health – and my pocket book!

Don’t Neglect Your Passions!

No matter what sparks your creativity – keep going! Whether you cook, craft, or write, the important thing is that you maintain the relationship with your passion! I started my blog two years ago and I’ve kind of let it slide the past few months. But making an effort to nurture this important connection helps me solidify what I really love doing!

Walk it Off!

Simply going for a walk outside can improve your mood, help relieve joint stress, increase cardiovascular health, and help you drop a few pounds. Just fifteen minutes is enough to help make a change. Adding more walking to my daily routine is a no brainer!

Whether you choose to do a full personal overhall or commit to making some small changes – design your challenge to be sustainable and attainable. Or do what I’m doing – which is NOT a New Year’s resolution!
