Review of the Fitbit Versa 2 Smart Watch

Some folks – myself NOT included – may have made resolutions about working out, weight loss, or active minutes. Said resolutions may or may not include utilizing a smart watch or activity tracker is some way or another. As much as developers may endorse these devices as the be-all-end-all of workout must-haves, they are not all created equal (nor do they perform as advertised). Here is my honest review of the Fitbit Versa 2 Smart Watch.

To be clear, all opinions is this post are my own and in no way should reflect your device usage or purchasing decisions. This post is not affiliated with Fitbit.

Let me begin by saying that – in my opinion – a smart watch or activity tracker is only a tool there to assist and encourage a person of said physical activity and to track ones progress. Completing a yoga sweat session or 5k run/walk still counts if you neglected to wear your fitbit!

This Fitbit is the second activity tracker I’ve owned. I previously used a Samsung Gear Fit2. To be honest, there was nothing really wrong with this device, I just wanted a new one! So I took a little time to research the market, read real reviews, and find the best price.

The colour and style I chose was important to me because a watch serves two purposes – function and fashion! I wanted my final decision to reflect my personality and style while still serving a goal. The bordeaux purple band with the rose gold framed face was a no brainer! So much of my arm candy is rose gold, so this fit perfectly!

Customizing the look of this smart watch is a cinch with all the interchangable bands on the market!

Preparing this beauty was pretty simple: Download the app to my android phone and customize the settings to my preference. I did do a little research on setup beforehand, but the process was fairly straightforward.

Not all of available tracking features appeal to me. Menstrual tracking, guided breathing, and built-in Alexa assistance aren’t necessary apps for my day-to-day routine and lifestyle. But there are definitely some cool trackers available on this watch!

  • Sleep Tracking
  • Weather Forecast
  • Cool apps! Spotify, Starbucks, News.
  • Receives text, calendar, and phone call notifications
  • Of course, a step tracker!
  • Water Tracking

A few of the features on the Fitbit Versa 2 I use religiously!

So simple, but the alarm clock is my savior on weekday mornings! I don’t always sleep in my own bed (Moms will respect this) and without this feature I’d be late constantly! The reminder to move element is terrific tool at work! Having a desk job it’s easy to get caught up in computer tasks and remember to take a break and walk around! This gentle reminder lets me know when I’ve the inactive for an hour!

Another key characteristic of the Fitbit Versa 2 that I really appreciate is the Heart Rate Monitor. When I was walk-running regularly a while back (haven’t in a while because of a lot of weight gain!) my heart rate would sky rocket! I mean, my heart rate would reach more than 190bpm after jogging only one block! I kept track of my heart rate and reported my findings to my doctor at my next visit. Even though the smart watch monitor isn’t 100% accurate, it can be a helpful tool if your find a possible problem.

Tracking your daily and weekly usage is a breeze with the Fitbit app! All the details of the components you set to track are at the ready! This makes your healthy lifestyle pursuit all the more simplified to plan and execute! The Fitbit app also sends you a weekly email with your progress and points out where you may need a little improvment.

A few simple – yet important (to me) – details of the Fitbit Versa 2 is the battery life and Bluetooth access to music! This watch only needs to be charged once a week (for my current usage) and it’s reached 100% is only an hour or two. The music is a must-have element for those outdoor workouts! Access to the tunes through the watch make changing the music a whole lot simpler so you get your run over and done!

One downside of this wearable is the price. The Fitbit Versa 2 may not be the most expensive activity tracker on the market, but at $200 (more or less), it is an investment. Be sure you browse around online or in store before making such a pricey commitment.

Compared to my previous activity tracker, the Fitbit Versa 2 does lack a little bit in automatic tracking. My Samsung Gear Fit2 would automatically detect extended periods of activity – like a walk, run, or workout – without having to start the tracking manually.

Fitbit Versa 2 Review – Bottom Line

Love it! As a self-proclaimed lazy ASS, this beauty has given me a push to do better! I know the steps I need to take in order to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, but a device such as this can give a little boost to do better and keep going. This smart watch is, overall, a great investment!

Even though I don’t use all of the device features right now, doesn’t mean that I won’t take advantage of them down the road. Even if I didn’t use the Fitbit Versa 2 for it’s intended purpose, I’d still wear it because it’s so darn pretty!
